Turkey is positioned as an exemplary model country in the region with its second highest growth rate among the G20 countries in 2020, its qualified workforce, strategic geographical location, integration with major markets, especially the EU, deep-rooted democracy culture and transparent management structure. It will be in the best interest of both countries that Turkey and the United Arab Emirates deepen their commercial and economic relations in many ways. Considering Dubai’s re-export capacity, higher levels of our bilateral trade are necessary.

The trade volume between Turkey and the United Arab Emirates increased and exceeded 8.4 billion dollars in 2020, despite the epidemic conditions.

The data in the first ten months of 2021 also show that the positive course in our trade continues. Today, almost 550 companies with United Arab Emirates capital are operating in our country, and our economists predict that these figures will reach much higher levels in the upcoming period.

When we look at the field of contracting, 141 projects worth 12.6 billion dollars have been undertaken by Turkish companies in the UAE so far. Much larger projects for the upcoming period are at the initial stage .

United Arab Emirates Minister of State for Foreign Trade Dr. Thani Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, on the other hand, frequently expresses in all his discourses that all necessary facilities will be provided to Turkish companies in order to increase and facilitate their investment and commercial activities between the United Arab Emirates and Turkey.

According to 2019 data, the United Arab Emirates is one of the leading trade and investment centers in the Gulf region with an export volume of 316 billion USD and an import volume of 268 billion USD. The prominent sectors in UAE’s imports from the world are electrical appliances, gold and jewellery, machinery and automotive. When we look at the commercial relations of the UAE with our country, it is striking that these sectors are our main export products.

Within the framework of the “Dubai Vision 2040” program, the UAE wants to increase the sectoral diversity of its economy, and in this sense, it offers Turkish entrepreneurs important opportunities and incentives to raise the current commercial level and create new trade areas. In addition, Dubai is the world’s 3rd largest reexport (re-export) The fact that it is an export) center and has Free Trade Agreements with the countries of the region also offers attractive opportunities for Turkish business people to increase their export volumes with other Gulf countries, especially Kuwait, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia and Oman.
